What is composting and why do we do it?<\/h3>\n

Composting is a natural process of breaking down organic matter\u2014such as plant waste, peels, and other biodegradable materials (like our Illes Coffee Lab cups)\u2014into a nutrient-rich fertilizer. This organic matter breaks down actively, with microorganisms (bacteria and fungi) decomposing the waste in the presence of oxygen. During this stage, biological activity generates a high amount of heat, reaching temperatures between 45\u00b0C and 65\u00b0C. That\u2019s why at Caf\u00e8s Illes Balears, instead of discarding these materials, we recover them and give them a second life: we turn them into fertilizer for our own crops. <\/p>\n
